Step One: Discovery

Tierney Talent Ventures begins with a visit to your office to conduct a rich discussion regarding your organization, its culture and the industry. We will discuss the critical business issues that the search will address and produce an agreed upon search strategy and essential requirements of the position. In addition, we will capture the key behavioral characteristics required to succeed in the role.

Step Two: Position Specification

Based on the information gathered from our meeting, Tierney Talent Ventures creates a detailed Position Specification. This document serves as both an informational and marketing tool as we reach out to prospective candidates. As part of the Position Specification, an ideal Candidate Profile is created and agreed upon. Our consultants use this document as a guideline as we identify top talent for the search.

Step Three: Finding And Approaching The Best

In partnership with our clients, our consultants develop a research and sourcing strategy. Kay Tierney remains integrally involved in the research and sourcing process throughout the search. This is a critical step in the process and will be used as a basis for identifying and developing the slate of top candidates. Tierney Talent Ventures identifies candidates from three primary sources: our professional networks and relationships, systematic research, and our collective industry knowledge. We build a target list of companies and candidates through our comprehensive search tools and methodology, targeting highly successful and fully employed executives.

Approaching top candidates is a critical step in the search process. The key consultant working on the engagement is best prepared to present the opportunity in a compelling way, so critical search discussions with top candidates are handled by an executive of the firm.

Step Four: Interviews, Assessment and Presentation

We have extensive phone and face-to-face interaction using advanced behavioral interview techniques that screen for predetermined standards, skills, and traits as outlined by the client. We utilize these multi-level interviewing techniques to assess a candidate’s ability to perform in the job and adapt to the client organization and culture.
Once a slate of the most qualified candidates for the position is determined, written summaries are prepared for each candidate detailing the basis for submission. This is not a selling document. Unlike many firms, our goal is to provide candidate assessments, including realistic expectations and recommendations. We are very selective about our candidate submissions and work to identify the top 3-6 candidates for presentation to our client.

Step Five: Client Interviews, Selection and Closure

If requested, Tierney Talent can participate in key interviews with the hiring manager and/or provide key assistance with interview preparation. As the client interviews candidates, we are continually collecting and providing critical feedback.
Once the top candidate has been identified, Tierney Talent Ventures offers guidance and resources to ensure negotiations result in a successful acceptance by the top candidate. Our goal is to eliminate unnecessary surprises and prepare for successful completion of the search.
